Hello, I am Carmen. I was born in 1974 in the Ukraine. I live today in Russia. In the year 2000, doctors in a hospital made a horrible diagnosis while I was pregnant with my daughter. It was cancer and that caused the amputation of my leg in the

end. I was terrified about my live as a disabled in the future, and how I can live

with only one leg

I was always very energetic and am it again today, but these news almost

threw me for a loop. Everything was very difficult, but the most frustrating

thing, was not be able to move freely and accept obstacles. It took four years

after the amputation until I understand, that my life goes on. I understood

that I have to stop feeling sorry for myself.

.

I have to raise my children, and I have to prove that I'm worth something against myself, even with only one leg. I have overcome the barriers and have begun to practice sports. After a few years, I have achieved more, then most people in their whole life. Today I live a full life and enjoy it to the fullest. I am, not really different to other women, except that I have only one leg - but I think that makes me individual.

Yours Carmen
